Exhibit to showcase Anna Tomczak's photographs of ordinary life TCPalm

VERO Seashore — Anna Tomczak’s memento mori are otherworldly large-format photographs reflecting assemblages she has made from the detritus of common life.

“They have a Victorian aspect,” she said. “I live in a Victorian house in a Victorian burgh and my husband owns a salvage business called “Florida Victorian.” I get materials from him but I use a lot of materials that are definitely contemporary. I search for things I love and gather things when I am traveling.”

Tomczak’s show of 34 photographs/works on script will be at the Vero Beach Museum of Art from Saturday through Dec. 27. “Sanctuary: Anna Tomczak Photography” features Polaroid portrait transfers created with Polaroid’s rare 20-by- 24 camera, as well as hand-painted gelatin silvery prints, 8-by-10-inch image transfers and other early works. The show will be mounted in the Schumann Gallery.

Her artistic understanding begins by creating still-life assemblages fashioned from the iconic treasures, personal mementos and botanicals she has composed for years. She then photographs these creations producing pensive and expressive visual experiences that are born from layered veils of recollection, history and sentiment.

I am looking for photographs that changed our sophistication or how we see another culture and I need to know how it changed our culture

Photographs are records and cannot trade culture; they merely capture it. Try checking out the work by Dorothea Lange who did an amazing job capturing dust spin/depression era.

How can I foster photographs before I share them with others? I do not want the photographs that I share to be taken as a screen shot, copy, pasted, downloaded or edited by others.

Is there a set method or software that can help do this? If so please do guide me in detail on the same. Thank you!

If a photo is viewable, they have already downloaded the information. There is no way to stop a screen shot, there are too many ways to capture the image. All you can do has been listed by others. Just don't make it solid enough to be of commercial use and watermark it.

How do I get my photographs published in magazines?

What throw of form should I send photographs to magazines? Is it best to send prints via postal mail? How many should be in any given set and is it unique to do this unsolicited? Do I include a letter? How much should I expect to be paid for using my photographs?

You look at the magazines you would like to be published in, find out the perfect example inform editors name and contact details then send an introductory letter outlining the type of pictures you have for car-boot sale/publication and ask what their submission requirements are.
You should include a contact sheet at least of what you have on offer.

Better yet would be to try and make an date to go and see them to show your portfolio.

Paid - depends on the magazine and usage, varies from a few pounds/dollars through to potentially hundreds (or thousands if it is a prattle rag and unique pap shot).
