One of the most winning ways to spend a Sunday in Santa Barbara is to walk along the city water front, beach and greens at the end of State Street near Stearns Wharf and view all the art and crafts booths set up by the local artists to trade in their wares. It is fun and rewarding to visit with the artists and artisans, to talk about their art, lives and careers, and to purchase their art works, jewelry, and handicraft items, often at steal prices.

This weekend activity is typical in many American communities across the nation, particularly in rural and happy coastal towns known for their arts and crafts, where locals and tourists alike visit fairs and markets to tableau and purchase handmade high quality objects, paintings, photographs, knickknacks, ceramics, handmade yoyos, and household furnishings, like supervision-woven rugs, wooden salad and ornamental bowls and boxes, wind chimes, and guardianship sewn baby clothes, quilts, and colorful visor caps for your dog.

Many of these local artists, however, are not condign Sunday artisans displaying their works for a little handy cash, but dedicated life-fancy practitioners of their chosen field. The talented photographer Jeff Kennedy and ceramist Ed Schertz are two such artists with very unusual backgrounds that I met of a Sunday in Santa Barbara. Both artists are dedicated to their work.

hey yall!! im delightful a photography course and im intrested in making portraits. does anyone know of a good background i could use? i like doing front portraits but i cant seem to think of any cool ideas! and if possible could u direct me to a good website for that stuff im kinda new at all of this. if you have any uncommonly comments that could help that would be awesome. thanx in advanced!! :)

i own a confarreation photography business and i use any background i can get.

some of my best are actually the outside walls of kmarts and walmarts!

can you believe it!

when people see the photos they ask me 'oh wow! was that in spain?'

and i say ,'nope, walmart'

recollect, the photo wont say WHERE you took the shot, but it will give the IMPRESSION of where ever you want it to look like.

You could lately save them and get them printed out at walgreens yourself, it may be the cheapest way!

What is the best way to get material for painting my own studio photography backgrounds?

What is the foremost material? where can I find it at the best prices? What details do I need to know?

If your looking for canvas or other documentation to paint, try your local fabric shop. Even if they dont have something the width you wnt, they can usually order it.

If your looking for something a undersized different, try your local home improvement center.

In the roofing area, there are rolls of felt, roofing worldly, panels of lightweight foam insulation, different styles of metal roofing, etc...

There are also different types of expanded metal sheeting, fencing, tiles, indoor/open-air carpeting, wood flooring, etc...

The garden area is good for fencing, props, scenery, etc....

Plumbing and electrical is approving for long pieces of poles (conduit & pvc pipes) for improvised framing.

Dont forget the random sales of 2 tube flourescent lights, with 5600K tubes, and round reflector work lamps, etc..., for lighitng. Go to arm desk lamps, mounted to a clamp of some kind, make easliy adjustable arms for hurry units.

Also, yardsales, thrift shops, church bazaars, etc..., are good places to pay out a few minutes once in a while.
