Peter Fraterdeus loves letters and words. Not justified reading them. He likes the tactile feel of letters carved from a block of wood, the metal and ink of old letterpress appurtenances.
His studio, Slow Print, 151 E. Ninth St., is a letterpress printing studio that, in many ways, is a page back in time. Visitors during Be infatuated with b be fooled into Art, a downtown gallery tour, will be able to see two 19th-century Chandler Prices, a couple of old Heidelberg Originals, a Miehle Vertical and a Vandercooke stand press, as well as old wooden printer's cabinets.
He'll likely have one of the Heidelbergs inked up and running during the studio tour.
But Fraterdeus, who lives in Galena, Ill., is not mired in the erstwhile. He takes pride in linking past and present.
He first learned about printing in a junior high store class while growing up in Evanston, Ill. When he started high school, he said, he took an early division in computers, "when they were still using punch cards."

I am looking to set up a home studio to take pictures of my daughter. I will purposes buy a Canon Rebel SLR Digital Camera.
My questions are:
1. Is this a good enough camera to take nice pictures of my indulge?
2. What else do I need (lights, background, etc) to set this up?
3. How much will this cost in total?
Thank you.
This is for my 2 month old baby daughter. I leader if I am going to spend a lot of money with photographers I might as well buy the equipment and take pictures whenever I want. thanks.
A revolutionist is fine for this purpose and as photo ace mentioned - savage makes a nice inexpensive backdrop stand that you can use credentials roles or cloth with (the paper roles are pretty cheap). For lights, alien bees are always a secure start and two B400s (or even one) should do the trick. As for a light meter, well, if time is no object you can always just fire away until it looks well-founded.
I would offer one caution, however. Taking high quality pictures of your daughter has very little to do with equipment. If you recognize very little or nothing about photography, you could possibly spend a $1000 on all this equipment and be very disappointed in the results. DSLRs are harder to use than site and shoot cameras. You have to learn about lighting ratios, exposure and post processing. I've spent a lifetime lore and while my clients are normally happy with the results, I always see something I could have done better. Maybe a cheap digital point and project would be a good place to start and then go from there. You can do a lot of portrait sittings for $1000. Good luck and have fun!

I'm looking to setup my own home photo studio. I already had a complete SLR camera with decent range of lenses.
Is anyone have any recommendation for a lighting kit and a background support? i am looking for a accommodating price one.
Btw, my camera is canon 400D, i have no idea what lighting system will work with my camera.
1. you dire a slave trigger for your camera's flash shoe.
2. It is best to have independent lighting units so as not to have cords everywhere.
3. I advocate that you have a main light, one auxillary light and one backlight for backlighting and lighting the backdrop to cut down on shadows. The units should check in with umbrellas and I recommend white so you can shoot through and bounce.
4. go to B&H Photo to shop... they have the best deals I cogitate on.
Good Luck...
