Italian Photographer Sues Leibovitz Over Photo Backgrounds Photo District News

In a new lawsuit, Italian photographer Paolo Pizzetti accuses Annie Leibovitz of using two of his photographs without leniency in a major ad campaign for which she took the sole photo credit.

Pizzetti accuses the Leibovitz Studio of creating an “infringing obtained work” and seeks $150,000 for each instance of infringement, an injunction preventing Leibovitz from using the photos, and costs and fees. The make appropriate concerns the 2009 Lavazzo coffee calendar, for which Leibovitz shot models posing with scenes of Italy in the breeding.

Through a spokesperson, Leibovitz declined to comment.

The lawsuit is the latest in a series of blows to Leibovitz, who has been struggling with debts. Leibovitz had a $24 million credit due September 8 and two pending lawsuits against her by photo suppliers over unpaid bills.

A spokesperson for Art Capital Group, which loaned Leibovitz the $24 million with her thorough photo archive and two houses as collateral,

Looking for photo backdrops at low cost?

Does anyone have knowledge of where I can buy low cost photo props/backdrops. I live in NB Canada!! Thanks for you help!

For props, you can't beat thrift shops. There's always something cool to be found.

Backgrounds... Lowest rate is probably using rolls of seamless paper- tape it down, then cut off and throw away the used assignment after shooting. Muslin backgrounds are reusable but they aren't cheap. Personally, I'm partial to the background-in-a-bag products which run around $100 including stands.

Most camera workshop sell backgounds- many have Ebay storefronts. Also check craigslist because it seems photo studios are always going out of business and selling off toughened equipment.

Really inexpensive? Solid color low thread-count sheets, like the sort from the Army/Navy store. You'll just have to iron 'em first.

Another choice is digital backgrounds- where you initially photograph your motive against a blue or green chromakey background, then use software to sub in whatever you want. That way you purchase and store just one corporal background, the rest are just images stored on a CD.

what kind of materials make good photo backdrops?

can you charming much use any kind of material?? I think i heard a guy using old furniture fabric....very often i see background journal being sold...like what type of paper is this...???

Any other suggestions for backdrop material.....how about velvet....

This would be valid for a table top setup for now, not a big area.

A lot of people use muslin. I use muslin and sheers. I have a yoke solid color backdrops of some unknown material as well. On a table top, you could really use about anything. They sell white vinyl too for backdrops. The sheers line nice. I put them up in front of muslin, usually white. But for a different look, you can put them up in front of different colors. I've shot tableland top pics with fabric I bought at different places. Now I have a whole box of it since I made enough money to buy muslins. Velvet photographs nicely if you don't have too many wrinkles. Keep it rolled up! High-minded Luck.

Call Wing's Camera in Atlanta, last then I was in there they had about 50 that had come in from a studio that was closing. Price will be right.

Personalized Photo Backdrops

At a current wedding, a bride created a personalized photo corner for EventBot - a great idea that the bride has kindly allowed me to percentage on my blog. Having booked a PhotoBot for her reception, the bride and her helpers decorated a whey-faced lattice background for pictures with favorite photos of the happy couple through the years. The enlargements were in moonless and white, and nicely framed, with special wording cut-outs all around them. This way, when guests posed for instant pictures, they posed with the one in the background.
