How a cabbie's dashboard sparked a court battle Globe and Mail

Mr. Perecowicz received six tickets for a sum up of $1,400 from the Bureau du taxi , a municipal agency whose inspectors ordered the cabbie to remove the offending items. Mr. Perecowicz is in lieu of fighting the tickets and heads to municipal court next week arguing the authorities are violating his Authorize rights.

"In 43 years, no one has said they were offended or opened the door to take another taxi," he says.

Mr. Perecowicz says he's not first religious, but he's comforted by having articles of his Jewish faith in the car, including photos of the late Lubavitcher churchly leader and two mezuzahs affixed to the car frame between the front and back doors. (A mezuzah , typically affixed to doorframes of Jewish homes, is a puny prayer parchment that, according to Jewish beliefs, offers protection.)

"I am secular but I do have roots and a savoir faire," he said. "These items mean something to me and that's why I've always had them in my car."

Has the Digital Camera killed your family photo album?

Many people have a stockpile of stored, unprinted images in hopes of printing them some day. Unfortunately, to be to come generations will never see them.

I enjoy looking at my family photos, dating back from the early 1900's

My advice: Get them printed on Physical photo paper now and regularly, otherwise you'll have a lump sum of hundreds of dollars in printing fees. Not only that, you will have the daunting task of sorting bizarre images with the the exact same files names to even do it.

Early digital cameras were so low quality, the printed images were embarrassingly impecunious. A generation of crappy pictures to pass on.

The digital camera also loses the candid quality of artwork taking. You can easily delete images that a traditional camera couldn't. Worst, you can erase an undivided camera by accident.
By the way. I have been doing professional photography for over 25 years. I have a darkroom and I also do digital photo too (and I leaning it). I am concerned on the fact that so many people are going to lose family photos, that their next generation will never see.

Hey mr protract!
Thanks for the advice!
i have digital scrapbooks... I also do Digital art......
I only print out the good ones! and i have them all backed up on a dvd disk! There for i can retailer a few disks somewhere and i can keep my moments on paper as well but i have a back up! a disk is smaller then any photo book! a disk is even smaller then a shoe box of photo'!
after losing all my gear in a fire! i'm for one am blessed to have moderen technology!
I don't think the digital has removed the photo album but it does point out the lazy peeps...
At the crack digital cameras had the same quility as a throw away camrea so i really don't know what your talking about plus isn't the mo not really the photo!!!
most Newer digital camreas have way to many steps to accidently erase your entire camerea! but is possilbe regardless!

the only sentiment i want to advise you on is keep a disk burnt of your 1900's photo's scan them and save them! if by chance they all don't fit in a fire safe then you will teeny-bopper out on that viewing pleasure!
Again Tahnks for your advice
Keep snapping those camreas!

You should deal with a good friend of mine, she could teach you a thing or two about digital cameras, and the fun that can be had with them. She could probably start her own photography work if she chose to do so. The scrapbooks she has put together for people are just awesome. She has her camera with her wherever she goes and is constantly putting together photo albums for her friends. She gave me a digital camera for Christmas, hoping for additions to the collection she is putting together for me when I get married.

Would it bother you if your mother made a family photo album but you were not in it?

There were lots of pictures of both my sisters (I have no brothers), my dad when he was a kid, my mom when she was a kid and then all of her grandkids (including mine). She does have pictures of me as a kid, but for whatever saneness - she didn't put any of me in that album. Do you think this is weird?

Yeah that's not calculated and my feelings would be hurt a bit. But did you ask her why dear? You need to do that if it bothers you.

How could one find out if an aunt with Alzheimer's left a precious family photo album in a safety deposit box?

My cousins and I recollect this aunt had all the irreplacable family momentos and probably placed them somewhere for safe keeping before anyone realized that she was losing her remembrance. They made several moves and changed banks many times before she passed on. The album has been missing for a long time and presumed desperate on one of the moves, in a moving box, or safety deposit box. What information would you need to track this down, even if we had a list of probable banks to call....isn't there some way that you can find out for honest if the "government" owes you money...i.e. if you left an open bank account somewhere, or a deceased conditioned by did?? You see those services advertised all the time. Are they legit? Would that be the way to go? Would the safety deposit box only be tracable if she also left a bank account put the show on the road at the bank? What do banks do with old things left behind when someone isn't paying for the safety deposit box anymore but they cannot get in touch with the patient??

Banks send statements to people with checking and savings accounts and 1040 forms to people that have CD's or sparingness resources interest, so if she had an account with a bank who ever was watching over her affairs would know. In most states unclaimed property is turn over to the specify after a period of inactivity usually between 5 and 10 years. You could check with the state agency in the states she lived in.
