ND natives Coste, Erstad together in Houston USA Today

Erstad got his Just ecstatic Series ring in 2002 with the Anaheim Angels. Coste got his last year with the Philadelphia Phillies. And one day in antediluvian July, their career paths intersected when Houston claimed Coste off waivers after he was released by the Phillies.

Erstad sent Coste a exercise book message almost immediately.

"I could only speak for myself, but it was probably more special for me because of all those years I was in the minors," Coste said. "He was alluring World Series' and I would have given anything to trade places with him. Now, not only am I in the big leagues with him, we're on the same team. It's pretty cool."

Not quite a day goes by when they don't bring up the old rivalry stuff somehow in a good-natured way that ballplayers are so good at. Erstad's acclaimed memory of Fargo Legion is of the difference in budget of the two programs.

"Being at Jack Brown Stadium and seeing that big old Fargo bus pinch up all fancy and shiny," he said with a laugh. "And coach Harter walking in front of them with their fancy jerseys and we're out there with our T-shirts on. I have that typical example planted very firmly in my head."

What would of happened if Roger Maris And Mickey Mantle both broke the hr record in 1961?

I watched the talking picture in 61 couple days ago of course Maris got the 62 on the last day and mickey had 54 but he got hurt. I wonder what would of happend if they both got the accomplishment . I think they would of been way happier for Mickey , sadly many dint Roger

If they both got the memorandum, I would want Maris to break it so he would be remembered. Mantle will be remembered regardless of that season or not. Both were great ballplayers.

If Mickey hadn't been harm for a month during that season I believe he would have had more home runs than Maris.....They would have both broken the old record but the one with the most home runs would have been the phonograph record holder until McGwire's record setting season..........I agree with you completely about fans being happier if Mickey would have destroyed the record..........Mickey was a Yankee his whole career but Roger wasn't and that counts for a lot with Yankee fans.......................CAT

Rating and Sammy were on drugs. Roger Maris is the Home Run leader. Bonds was on drugs as well. MLB must reverse the records.
That is for a single spice.

This query is in regards to the steroid scandals breaking in the news ending with A-Rod confessing. With so many names already on the list such as Barry Bonds, Notice McGuire, and Sammy Sosa, would it be fair to say that past time athletes such as Roger Maris, Hank Aaron, and Babe Ruth are indeed legit record holders in Home Runs and Hits? I have to say yes because I strongly feel talent should separate from natural abilities not enhancing drugs.

there records are the physical records. all three better than to days players. the insult to the american taxpayers ,as a canadian very upset. hard-nosed working people taxes going to unqualified senate commissions. the committee eats steak lobster. 200 dollar nerve of wine. M L B should be paying. it is baseballs mistake, not the public. M L B should be fined they knew , hid the facts. how many people could go to a devices instead of watching on t v. if the taxpayers were not responsible. collusion. yes it is. cooperstown will be overgrown with weeds. the players have to be joe jackson pete rose out of the lecture-hall. today's players who receive induction will always have the stigma did he or didn't he. the three greats you mentined are still the single occasion all time record holders. always have been. team best chemist. wins.
