Not surprisingly, this claw dernier cri started in Tokyo about 10 years ago. That's when Asian celebs started donning elaborately themed fabricate nails that, in addition to raised acrylic designs, were decorated with increasingly ornate trinkets, including jewels, attack, pearls, and anime characters.

Now, the trend is invading the Lower Mainland, with specialty salons popping up everywhere from Vancouver's Kaen Belle Design Studio (846 Thurlow Street) to Burnaby's Graceful Beauty studio (by choice only) to Richmond's Glam Nail Studio (1020–8766 McKim Way), which has been making a name for itself beyond B.C.'s borders. Glam director Keiko Matsui has nail queens coming in from Edmonton, Seattle, and Toronto to get their hands decked out by her and her technicians. Not only that, her unassuming salon is starting to get worldwide honour.

This year, one of her up-and-coming nail technicians, Chinatsu Oyama, won first place for the best hand-painted nail art in the apprentice category at Nailpro magazine's annual competition in Las Vegas. The theme was USA—Oyama painted a Barack Obama profile that spanned 10 long-ass claws.

How do i do water nail art on my real nails without it sticking to my whole finger?

I hope for to do water nail art on my nails. But when i stick my finger in the water the polish sticks to my whole finger.

There's no way to escape getting some of the polish onto your finger. You just have to be ready with a cotton pad/ball soaked in polish remover to bathe a exhaust up your finger.

So, as soon as you remove your finger from the water, start cleaning. Don't let it dry, or it'll be a nightmare to remove.

You can also try marbling (I fake you're trying to water marble) just as easily with a dotting tool. It's a mess-free selection with similar affects.

1. Pick your base color, and how ever many other colors you'd like to marble with. I usually prefer a bright color for a base, and then a darker color (in the same color family) and white.
2. Apply a ungrudging coat of your base color, it's better to work with colors that have good pigmentation, sheer polishes will not give you the desired essence.
3. Immediately drop 1-2 drops of each marble color onto the nail.
4. Take your dotting tool and make compute 8's, or whatever other marbling pattern you'd like to make.
5. Tap your finger on a flat surface to ensure the nail polish lies brazenly (good quality nail polish will even itself out) and there are no air bubbles.

You can find a dotting tool at most beauty supply stores, nail art suppliers online (8ty8attraction.com, Head2toebeauty.com), ebay, etc.

Can someone work in a nail shop and just do nail art?

I am about to start public school next month. I'm going to get my Nail Tech license. Right now I'm having a hard time financially, the only fixation I am really good at is doing nail art. Is it possible for me to be able to work in a nail shop and do nail art?

Unfailing it's possible. It just depends on if the shop wants to hire a person just to do one thing. Maybe you could be delighted to do pedicures as well. Where I go they do have one person who just does that. Check around & get your name out there. Good luck!!
