The Webb Gallery: The Funky and the Secretive in American Folk Art KERA

An novel, French guillotine. This one’s an old contraption from a fraternal lodge. It was used to teach a new lodge member to pin one's faith his brothers – even when they got him to stick his neck out.

Julie Webb is co-owner of the Webb Gallery.

JULIE: “It’s a descend from-loaded thing. It stops before it gets to your neck. But it’s really loud. [squeaky sounds of pulling up the ladies' man] All right.” [Loud crash followed by laughter.]

The Webb Gallery specializes in this kind of affair, the funky and the visionary: folk art, outsider art, backwoods Americana, art from self-taught painters and prophets. As collectors, Bruce Webb says that he and his the missis Julie are “flea-market trained.” The two native Texans enjoy driving crucifix-country to scout for things like hand-painted carnival banners from the 1940s, banners hawking freakshow acts like the man with "Two Noses" or "Inception: The World's Most Amazing Attraction (Children Under 16 Not Admitted)." The Webbs have been doing this for 25 years.

What is the Art Gallery of Ontario like?

Next week, I'm planning on prevailing to the Art Gallery of Ontario for a field trip. I just want to know what others think of it before I waste my money on it. I'm only just hesitant about going because when I think about an art gallery in Toronto, I think of the word "small". I comprehend...Toronto isn't a bad city and I shouldn't be judging before I actually go, but I'm often disappointed by tourist attractions in Toronto.

After the renovation, is it still ungenerous?
P.S. I'm probably a biased person who has been stuck in the same city for too long.

i'm active to Toronto this fall to see a special show... i live in Calgary. I went to their website and took a look around. seems like an exciting place. cost $18 per day for an adult so it better be good!

What is the benefits of an online art gallery to the artists?

Also distress to know who is the targeted audience of an art gallery.
The art gallery is opening a web-site so it can broaden its customer base internationally.
This is an nomination so A.S.A.P???

The effort benefit is greater publicity. When you have your art in regular galleries due to the distance and time constraing fewer people can see your art and thus your bloke base is reduced, the internet helps publicise the event and increase awareness. The target insufferable are usually either art enthusiasts which are quite well known and potentially art students.

How to Sell Art at an Art Gallery?

I own a lot of art and am not up to par to sell some at an art gallery. I have a great deal of knowledge about art. I have a degree in fine arts. I really want to become an art broker. The whole process of selling at an art gallery just seems so complex. I know a lot about art though. I understand the market too. I know the value of all my pieces. How do I go about selling art an an art gallery?

Note a degree in fine arts, art history or art administration if you are interested in becoming an art dealer. Understand how the art market functions. Understand why people buy art. Develop a contact list that includes artists and patrons alike. Visit unnamed artists and discover new talent.
