PROVO, Utah Parking enforcement in Provo has gone digital and wireless.
Officers are using a strident-tech pen to record and transmit data from the ticket to a justice court computer system within 90 seconds. Made by the Sandy-based Velosum, the pen is equipped with a camera and a Bluetooth friend at court.
"By the time they walk out to the car, the ticket's online," enforcement officer Brad Croff said.
The $25,000 electronic system has allowed officers to junk-yard the notebook computers and digital cameras they used to use when writing parking tickets. The city pays a $100 monthly operations fee for each electronic pen and a 35-cent processing fee for each citation.
The Velosum system uses especially coded ticket papers that are printed over a microdot pattern. The pen's camera reads the dot pattern and knows which dishonour box is being checked. It then enters that information into the court's computers. The pen's camera can also read an officer's handwriting.

I'm looking for an but for digital camera to take photos with of a wide variety of subjects; everything from my daughter's ballet class with lots of advance to nature. Any suggestions?
You did not praise how much you can afford for it, so I can only suggest some general to pay attention to. Just look into some tests and comparasions.
- For nature photos, you will requirement a large range of zooming, 8x optical zoom at least (digital zoom is ruining the image quality).
- Meet macro abilities (should have a closepoint of smaller than 10 cm for photohraphing small parts of the nature).
- Ingenious shutter speed for your daughter's quick movements, 1/2000 sec or 1/4000 sec would be even better.
- At least 6 MegaPixels accuracy is recommended to have fine photos.
Do you want a small compact camera, or you do not mind having an SLR (big, dull and lenses can be changed for different purposes). It's not the SLR what costs a lot, but the additional equipments: lenses, filters, tripod,...
As for me, I have a Canon EOS 350D with 4 lenses (two of them wholly big and heavy), I trully love it, but sometimes I need a schoolbag to carry them all. :-) Nikons are also excellent, I have anyway very few go through with them.

I am looking for a digital camera that will be inured to for a lot of at night or low-light shots as well as very close-up shots. Additionally, I would like a camera that is in the "compressed" or "ultra-compact" category if possible. What are some suggestions for specific cameras, or, in broad what features should I be looking for on cameras' spec sheets that would tell me that the camera was good with low-light or up-close shots?
If the low assail shots are of building or such, you can put any camera on a tripod. If you need to do them hand held (street photography/ concerts/ sports/ etc.), you're out of accident. This is the domain of digital SLR cameras. The digital Nikons are good at this, and the Canons are even better. They can go up to ISO 6400 in a pinch, and they'll deliver beutifull duplicate quality as high as ISO 1600. This is better than film ever was. If you add a light sensitive lens, like a 50mm f/1.4, you can do enterprise photography by candle light. No compact camera comes anywhere close to that. (The autofocus will hunt forever, and when it does join on, you'll need a shutter time of several seconds.)
If it must be a compact, get one where you can crank the ISO up to 1600 (or higher).
For extreme familiar ups, get a macro lens (or a compact that has a macro function.)

What is RAW in regards to digital cameras? How does it line and what digital cameras have it?
I'll see if I can clear up this briefly...
When your digital camera takes a picture, it records WAY more colors in the image than you can see with the naked eye. What most cameras do is compress this massive image by getting rid of certain layers of the color. If you try messing around with the white balance, you can see different methods of compression at m - "indoor" white balance records the colors from spectrum a to b, while "cloudy" or "tungsten" or whatever records the colors from spectrum x to y, making the pictures look lose different, even though they're taken in the same place at the same time. In other words, you're telling your camera to make the choice about what spectrum it's accepted to record automatically. A RAW file is the complete, uncompressed image. What you have to do with a RAW file is download it onto your computer and use a RAW converter to manually better how you want the image to be compressed (into a .jpg that can be used as a regular image file). The main idiosyncrasy is that when you shoot in .jpg, the camera makes the decision for you, so if you start tweaking with the color or contrast or whatever later, the model isn't as big and some of the quality can be compromised. When you shoot RAW, the camera records everything and YOU make the decision later about how to compress without sacrificing any property or size. Unless you're a professional photographer or you need to enlarge your photos to a size larger than 11x17, you doubtlessly don't need to be shooting in RAW (unless you just want to try it out for fun).
Some brands of digital camera with a telephoto zoom lens equipped. This could be in the visual calibre equal to the length of each lens with four UD (Ultra-Low Dispersion) glass elements to correct chromatic distortions. Most of these cameras have secure f/2.8 maximum aperture, with excellent photos make these SLR lenses most searched certified.

One most prestigious brand such as Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM `s met all expectations. Although they are on the expensive side, it has lens end, his staunch customers, offering to pay them - good! Taking into account the add-ons (case, tripod and hood, the calculation) is not so extortionate, when the various lenses of inferior quality compared to the retail market.
This camera is a unique and at the ready device that is agreeable to each pallet. It works quickly and easily in low light conditions, offers principal picture clarity without distortion. Excessive weight gain is considered a negative for some, but where are the beautiful paintings of Clever, you have no complaints.
