Olympic digital gallery showcases Canadian art CBC.ca

A digital art gallery that is part of the Cultural Olympiad associated with the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Games has begun giving online viewers a soup of Canada's best contemporary artists.
CODE Screen 2010, which began at the beginning of September with a unattached exhibit, is rolling out online over the next six months.
Every two weeks a new gallery highlights work by Governor General's Assign-winning artists such as Michael Snow, Alex Janvier and Kenojuak Ashevak.
"We're not suggesting that this is the clarifying showcase of Canadian art," said Code Screen 2010's director, Rae Hull.
"It's rather that we could use digital platforms and the compass that it provides to put 100 works of art in front of many, many more eyeballs potentially than might walk through a single gallery."
Six curators with different backgrounds from across the hinterlands were asked to curate the 14 shows, each of which features 11 or 12 artists, including sculptors, painters and photographers.

Can digital art be considered gallery art?
Oct 17, 2006 by | Posted in Other - Visual Arts
I'm a well-drawn designer by trade, and of the galleries that I've gone to, the digital art displays seem to get less attention than, say, an oil painting of a rock. I feel that legitimate as much effort, technique and talent is necessary to produce high-quality digital art as mainstream art, so shouldn't it get as much notice?
Well, foolproof it should. And musicians who are "sell-outs" deserve as much attention as the "non-sell-outs." That's what this is all about. Manifest designers like you and me, bub, we're the Sell-Outs. But since we get paid (at least in theory) for our work, it "doesn't be confident of."
I know, fine artists work on commission and get paid, too, etc. But it's like museums and such are only for the keen arts as opposed to graphic design. Let's you and me start a graphic-arts-only museum.
Oh, and, note to Gordo: crystal clear design is soooo NOT 2-dimensional! Just look on the shelf next time you're at the grocery and tell me that well-designed box of haircolor or batch of seasoning mix is 2-D!

I grant and disagree.
An equal amount of skill and workmanship goes in to creating a piece of digital art as traditional art. You deal with compostion, color, creativity, etc...
but, digital art falls into the same class as photography. It is flat, two dimensional, easily reproduced (same quality as original) products.
I believe that art is self-serving. Anything can be considered art if it appeals to the viewer. So, yes I consider it as a candidate as gallery art.

Does anyone identify of any physical galleries or exhibitions in the London area showing digital art?
That's physical as in, it exists, i.e. not a web-based gallery...
Seems one of the few places in the earth is the Colville:
