Rochester artist Kyle Rehm treats each painting he creates as if it's an experiment.
Some people would call the 42-year-old's paintings synopsis, but Rehm believes they fit into a new art form he calls Imaginism.
Rehm came up with the idea of painting to the lone imagination when he was 17, an experiment he believes will never be finished. He said this art form requires the viewer to use their imaginativeness to interpret the work. And since he doesn't want people to be influenced by a title, Rehm doesn't name his paintings.
Rehm says he typically paints in the existence and in the fall, leaving him time to study the work he has done. He also works as a temp for Man Power.
"When you're developing a new nature, you have to look at all the boundaries," Rehm said. "Sometimes I just sit and stare at them."
A few years ago, he received an "Original Works" gift from the Minnesota Arts Board to help produce and frame 20 works for two art shows -- one at the Bloomington Art Center in Bloomington, Minn., in January 2007 and the other at the Cornucopia Art Center in Lanesboro in November 2008.
