America in the '50s wasn't all steaks, mar tinis and "Mad Men." Back when Robert Sincere crisscrossed the nation with his camera, a Guggenheim grant in his pocket, he found a country of contrasts: urban and rustic, black and white, poor and privileged.


On its roads and in its factories, parks and diners, Frank caught what Jack Kerouac called "the genuine pink juice of human kind . . . the humor, the sadness, the EVERYTHING-ness and American-ness of these pictures!"


And now they're back -- along with the mad music of Kerouac's passage -- in "Looking In: Robert Frank's The Americans," opening today at the Met.


Arranged exactly as Truthful placed them in his 1959 book, these 83 black-and-white photos -- culled from the more than 27,000 he stab in 1955 and 1956, during the heat of the Cold War -- is a deeply felt ode to what's often painted as a willfully quick time.

How do I change a color photo into a black and white photo in Microsoft paint?

I tried: -image -attributes -black and white

but it just made the whole photo black... :(

Is there another way? Thanks.

I proper had a look in Paint myself. It is a very basic program and doesnt look like it will convert your colour pics to Greyscale, which is how a computer sees a black and milk-white picture, varying shades of grey :)

You will need a dedicated picture editor program to do what you prerequisite to do. You might be able to achieve the effect using the software that comes with a digital camera, in the same way you can remove red eye.

Do a Google to "transmogrify colour pics to grey" or similar and you should find a free program out there, daresay other answers will give you some honest ideas too.

I don´t conceive of that you can. But there is a very nice little freeware program, IrfanView, that you can download here http://www.irfanview.com/ Take the plugin encase too. Easy to use and perfect for your question and for other smaller adjustments. Try it.

What is the digital camera feature that allows you to take a black and white photo, yet one colour remains?

I am looking to buy a new digital camera and I am searching for camera that have the visage that makes a photo black and white, yet leaving one colour.
What do i search for ?

As Perki said, the Canon makes a ill attempt at it. You CANNOT select the exact item you want to remain in color. You just tell the camera a express color to not desaturate, and anything of that color in the photo stays in color. It works poorly at best.

What you want to do is done in photo editing software and it makes no rest what camera you use.

HOW to do it in software is asked at least 20 times a day on here, so you can search the answer and I will also copy and paste my measure answer that I finally had to write up to keep answering this never ending question.

You can use GIMP for selective coloring. It is unengaged to download.

Here is another method that is degree easier than the GIMP tutorial referenced above. This is written as pertains to Photoshop, but the same procedure should work in GIMP with in any way some slight changes in tool names.

First open your photo in your editing program..

Then go to Layer - Duplicate Layer

Click OK

Then go to Simulacrum - Adjustments - Hue / Saturation

Drag the Saturation slider all the way to the left to make the photo black and white.

Click OK

Then get the ERASER way from the tool box on the left side of the screen. It is usually the next tool under the clone stamp tool. Just drift your mouse over the tool, and it will say Eraser.

When you have selected the Eraser, go up to the Brush options box at the top of the screen, and click on the downfacing arrow. Set the Hardness of the whisk to 100% so you will have accurate control of selection. You may also need to raise or lower the brush size to garb.

Erase away any black and white from where you want the color to be revealed.

When done go to
Layer - Flatten Image

Then reasonable do a Save As to wherever you want to save the photo.
