In its come up short view after startup, you have a nice sky map that shows you all of the stars and planets visible to your location. You can swipe, swipe and zoom to move around and zoom in and out of the map. Plus, the map - like virtually every other aspect of the application - is customizable. Want to add grids? Telrad targets? Coil the horizon on or off? Starmap lets you affect these changes and a whole lot more.
When you’re ready for more information, tap an object and you’re instantly rewarded with detail about that constellation, planet or big name. Dig a little deeper and you can quickly locate any object visible in your night sky. With a swipe or two, Skymap will tell you when the thing is visible and what altitude it will be at different times of the night.
If you don’t have a plan for what to look at or you just want to see the evening’s highlights, compare with the “Tonight” button and you’re greeted with the planets, galaxies, clusters or nebulae that will be seeable via telescope, binoculars or naked eye (all filterable). Tap any of the available choices and you’re instantly taken to a screen with more communication on this object, when and where to see it … and several options for easily finding it.

How can you see more clearer in night vision binoculars at night?
Dec 29, 2007 by Aeroshift | Posted in Other - Electronics
I bought a night vision binocular (20X50). It is one of those homespun binoculars that doesn't require batteries. I tested it out last night, and it quite didn't rise to my expectations. So how can I improve my night vision and the binoculars?
It sounds like to shortage to know what to expect from them more than anything else. The major difference between a set of night binoculars and regular binoculars is lens size. For your set, this is the 50 in 20X50. This is the lens diameter in millimeters. The larger the lens diameter the more shine they collect. For night use, 50 is on the small end of the range. 60 or 70 mm lens would do a better job.
The 20 in 20X50 is the expansion power of the binoculars. 20 is much too high a power to be held by hand. It would be very difficult to hold them steady enough to see well. The idea will bounce and jiggle around from small movements of your hand, arms, and body. Even your heartbeat and breathing would ideal some problems. You will need to rest them on something or get a tripod. 10 power is about the highest you can go for handheld binoculars.

May 21, 2009 by lostboy | Posted in Other - Outdoor Recreation
More specifically, I have a double of regular binoculars, maybe $100. I need to make a night vision scope without completely destroying the binoculars. If there are any cite i can get this from that would be useful.

Can night vision binoculars see through tinted windows?
Jun 11, 2006 by eskie lover | Posted in Military
I am specifically asking about the transcribe issued to the military and law enforcement. The type of tinted windows I have are designed to reflect the heat from outdoors so that it doesn't get so hot at bottom. Since this type of binocular picks up and "sees" the heat coming from living beings and the windows bring to light it back outside, would night vision goggles be able to see inside my home?
Perhaps (you seem to be referring ti both night vision and infra-red or heat vision), however infra-red can see through wall, so if your windows are opaque they can still see you through the walls, not to mention DARPA is working on a contrivance that detects heartbeats. Which means they probably already have it and could use two of them to triangulate a sniper shot to hit a heart through a wall.
Well, snooze tight.
