Long Island CIty Comes Into its Own Cooperator

There was a epoch when Long Island City’s waterfront area wasn’t exactly a hot residential neighborhood. With its looming industrial buildings  with a few insignificant residential buildings thrown together near the East River, the  area was more On the Waterfront than Sex and the Town.

Today, that has most definitely changed. Long Island City is thriving with condo  buildings, stores and restaurants. According to Eric Benaim, a realtor who  specializes in Long Island Diocese properties and who also lives in the area,  people from Manhattan are being drawn there for value and contiguity to  Manhattan.

“I think it is the best location,” says Benaim, who opened his own energy, Modern Spaces, in Long Island City last  year. “A lot of people—Manhattanites— dream it’s Queens, and the only experience they have with Queens is going through it to  go to the airport. Then they take the 7 train or the E or V train, and they see  it’s in fact one stop. Four or five minutes on the subway line, and you’re in a real peaceful, quiet area, and you still have a lot of the amenities  that Manhattan buildings tender.”

Are there any juried art exhibits i can enter on long island?

I am 16 and active on long island. I am a painter and love displaying my work and would love to sell it. I want to get my art "out there" but don't separate how. Are there any juried art competitions i can enter. Or maybe a gallery willing to show my work. Is there someone i can speak to to get into a gallery.
I appreciate any help. Sometimes non-standard due to YOU!

is there a specific arts council? where i live theres an arts council to help promote the arts in the slowly diminishing american discrimination. they have new exhibits every month and can even give you a directory of places (banks, coffee shops, theatres, etc) that would love to display your work. Sometimes you have to pay a small fee for space or sometimes they just plain off buy your work. Anyway, good luck and search on!

More art gallery visits for med students? Other humanities too?

...in listening and poring over charts, doctors sometimes had pygmy time actually to look at their patients, especially under the pressures of today's managed medical sorrow...Partly intended to make better doctors by making better-rounded human beings, such art courses are being joined by other, mostly elective humanities courses — and in some medical schools, like the one at the Solemn University at Stony Brook on Long Island, whole humanities departments — that bring playwrights, poets, actors, philosophers and other imports from the impartial arts into the world of medicine.

Any experience with this?
Yale is having preMed get training at Art Gallery, Stanford is doing this, Dartmouth, and not positive how many others. First read about it in 1999.

i differ with the utility of humanities courses in medical school. yes, to a certain degree, doctors need to be well rounded- but that's moral so they can communicate and empathize with their patients, right? why do they need to study poetry in order to accomplish that? medical students can scan philosophy as much as they want on their own free time, but making them do that as a requirement doesn't make any sense.

Any recommendations for SELLING a biz?

use a realtor? middleman? a website?

i am interested in selling my art gallery in long island?

so what say you?

Realtor, definatly!
